GALLERY 1900 - DECORATIVE ARTS 1860-1920
GOTHIC REVIVAL *AESTHETIC MOVEMENT * ARTS AND CRAFTS * ART NOUVEAU * MODERN MOVEMENT
Welcome to Gallery 1900 – a site devoted to the sale of furniture and objects from the design period 1860-1920. This was a period when the fundamental principles of the Modern Movement were being established and has left a remarkable legacy of progressive creativity.
Gallery 1900 offers genuine affordable examples of material from this period, reflecting the tastes in Britain, America and the Continent, some by unknown designers, and some by the acknowledged masters of the time. Beginning with the Gothic Revival, Gallery 1900 concentrates on the areas of the Aesthetic Movement, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Early Modernism.
With a constantly changing stock Gallery 1900 displays and maintains a supply of furniture and objects whose main and prominent feature is one of good design and/or high quality manufacture. With this area of collecting becoming increasingly popular, there are only a limited number of businesses offering such items, and as supply dries up, it is now a good opportunity to start or continue collecting as in the very near future the only way to view the best examples of these objects will be in museums.
